On a whim, I went ahead and scheduled an appointment for Dennis and I to meet with her and her team to learn more about home-birthing, particularly Christian-based home-birthing. I ‘knew’ Doran through Facebook as a Holy Yoga sister, so I felt comfortable consulting her. As I was looking at different options, I decided to message Doran at Grace Midwifery just to get a little information. I started thinking about having a home-birth way back when I was in college, and at the beginning of 2018 it was still on my mind. But a couple of weeks before that appointment, I started looking at birthing centers and midwives around me. That’s what you do it’s what the women in my family have always done. I didn’t even hesitate to make that call. When we first found out we were pregnant, I automatically called my OBGYN to schedule an appointment. It seems we have been going a mile a minute for the past 2 months, and loving every minute of it. Between bonding with baby, (trying to) rest, helping out with church stuff, and returning to work, there has been very little ‘me’ time, and even less ‘me’ time with a functioning brain. I’ve had high hopes of writing a blog post for the past 2 months, but obviously that didn’t happen. MacKenzie Louise Russell was born on September 25 at 10:55 am.
